This book delves into an odd little corner of the world, where jungle and taiga meet. Apparently the flora and fauna in the Amur region of Russia near Vladivostok is incredible. This story goes into detail about the events of a man eating tiger, the efforts to hunt it down, and the relationship between humans and these majestic cats. The author ascribes some motives to the titular title, and normally this would annoy me. The author himself admits that he is wary to anthropomorphize the animal, but that it is reasonable to assume that an apex predator such as a tiger is intelligent enough to formulate plans of attack. The way he writes, and the sources he uses, makes this seem very true. I really enjoyed this book.
