I don’t know how Chloe managed to make this SO GOOD but GEEZ I am still reeling over the events in this book. I am going to be rereading so I can read it more slowly and analyze everything over again. MY GOD, this is a brilliant book.
After the events of Immortal Longings, I was so curious to see how this book would turn out.
Otta Avia being resuscitated is still so wild to me. I hated her when Anton would talk about her in IL, but her being alive and being an absolute PEST in this was even more annoying. HOWEVER, the ending???
HER BEING SINOA TUOLEIMI AND BEING DOUBLED???? OTTA NOT ACTUALLY BEING OTTA BUT A QUEEN REBIRTHED??? That’s fucking insane what the fuck. And the fact that Calla jumped into her, and then she had the ability to jump out and into Otta’s body??? MY MIND IS FUCKING BROKEN.
So in conclusion, Otta is not Otta. The real Otta is dead, I presume, and Sinoa Tuoleimi is inside her body. She is doubled and therefore can’t be jumped into. This happened 15 years ago, when “Calla” was 8. My question is how old was Sinoa when this happened? 8 also?
We have already established this in Immortal Longings but Calla is not Calla. She is actually an orphan from Rincun who jumped into Callas body. She is “doubled” but not really since Sinoa jumped out when Calla jumped in. “Calla” thinks she jumped into a Princess body but it was actually a queen rebirthed. However, she can jump out that body and it will be an empty vessel.
The ending is just so mind blowing to me but I’m even more excited for the FINAL BOOK!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!! It’s going to be so messy and bloody and chaotic, I am here for it.
I liked that there was lots of talk about the provinces and cities outside of San-Er. In IL, we were stuck in those claustrophobic twin cities and it was very fun. Now here, we venture outside the cities, and explore more of Talin which I’m obsessed with.
Chloe put so much detail into each province and I’m so happy that this book is going to have a map. I can’t wait to see it and connect all the dots.
The amount of plot twists and just overall shocking fucking things that went down just makes me love this book even more. I have such bad whiplash from this.😭
After the ending that was IL, I’m sure everyone is curious as to how things looked for Calla and Anton in this. Welll…for the non-spoiler section: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Oh my fucking god I love them so much. The anger and tension between them had no right to be so hot everyone. NO RIGHT.
Even when they were fighting, I just felt like they wanted to claw at each other and pounce. ☠️☠️
YALL WANNA KNOW WHAT REALLY HAD ME ON THE FLOOR?!?!?! Him on his knees before her, promising his devotion. LIKE HELLO???? She was so hot during that scene like MOTHER? MOTHER!!!!!!! My bi panic was off the charts. 😮💨

Anyhoo, I’m so glad they made up. Him being her general and overall right hand is going to be so amazing to see like AHHHHH!!! He was already at the mercy of her but now that she’s actually crowned?? Yeesh. Flesh And False Gods #3 I am waiting on you ever so patiently.
I just love love and bringing so many complicated aspects of life in San-Er and everything that went down just made it better???? I’m being very vague but I honestly can’t shut my mouth for anything.
I love the storytelling in this AGGHHH like I was entranced the whole time. I have no words for August in this but him and Galipei need to stop playing already FR. 🤨
My heart was cracking so badly when Galipei wanted to talk to August when Anton was in his body and he just kept pushing him away. My poor Galipei just wanted his baby. ☹️☹️☹️☹️THE FACT THAT CALLA HURT HIM HURTS MY HEART. But him and August doing all the shit with the Crescent Society’s and The Dovetail??? Yeah deserved. (no stop I have a soft spot for Galipei).
I don’t know how to feel about August FR. One moment he’s like cool. The next, he knows that Kasa was involved in Anton’s parents death and keeps it to himself. I think he’s a horrible person. However, he needs to get his head out of his ass and confess his undying love for Galipei.
Every time I think about this book, I feel like someone’s trying to jump into my body. Like why am I feeling weird and tingly??? Excuse me??? I CANT GET OVER THIS BOOK. It’s going to consume me for the next few months before it comes out and even afterwards, it’s going to consume my thoughts.
I’m going to constantly be thinking Calla Anton Mao Mao Rincun Chima Yilas Bibi Sinoa Otta Sica August Galipei Jumping Horses Carriages Swords Blood Vessels ETC.
I just AHHH. My brain is in overdrive right now. AHHH. So fucking good. Chloe never misses. I need this book to be out right now. Please and thanks.
