Aunt Dimity and the King's Ransom by Nancy Atherton

4.0

This has been, and remains one of my all-time favourite series'. It is sweet and funny, gentle and clever. The stories are full of quirky likable characters, entertaining situations and fun story lines. Aunt Dimity books never let me down and I anticipate each new installment of the series with excitement knowing I will enjoy them. This book was no exception.

This time around Lori was out of Finch, and those tend to be stories I enjoy just slightly less than the ones when Lori is in her normal habitat with the hilariously odd cast of characters that are local to Finch. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy this. Author Nancy Atherton is very good at creating great characters, even when they are new or unique to the tried and true folks readers of this series already know and love. I very much enjoyed getting to know the people surrounding The King's Ransom and the adventure Lori had while she was stranded there, I just enjoy the adventures that involve the good people of Finch a smidge more is all!

Format note: I listen to this series as audio books, because my library has them, and the narrator for them is excellent! She perfectly captures the personalities on the page and really makes the characters come to life for the listener. If you have any interest in audio books, this is a great series to listen to.

Overall, I still absolutely love this series! The only problem is having to wait until the next book becomes available to readers. Hopefully Nancy Atherton has many more Aunt Dimity stories in her head, because as long as she keeps writing them, I will keep reading them . . . with much pleasure!
