Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

4.0

I was super stoked when my work book club decided to read “Lessons in Chemistry”. At the time I was trying to get it from my local library, but the hold list was a mile long! A co-worker suggested I listen to it instead and I’m glad I did!

This sassy, takes no mess, intelligent and beautiful Elizabeth Zott is a show stopper in every way. She believed in her ability to be an amazing scientist and wasn’t about to let the fact that she was a woman in the 50s/60s stop her from it!

She found love in more ways than one, but let her research stay at the top of the list. She was disrespected constantly and even assaulted, but she kept pushing!

Six-thirty her furry companion really stole the show for me in this book! You just have to read it!

I don’t want to give too much away but I heard the complaints from scientists and from those who wanted to argue why this was considered historical fiction but hey…I enjoyed it!
