Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas

For starters, I am just going to say that this one reads like one of those Choices romance stories off the App Store and while I admit that I find those to be a guilty pleasure of mine and I admit to watching them when I’m bored and there’s too much noise going on in my house to actually read, however when I pick up an actual book I’m usually looking for something different, something succinct and meaningful. That, I did not find here and I wish I had.

What I liked:
-Misha and Ryen go through real issues: Many issues I remember experiencing when I was in high school. I especially relate a lot to Ryen’s feelings of being an outcast and not good enough. I felt much of the same way in high school and I still have these feelings now as an adult. I think the whole notion of bullies bullying others because deep down they have low self-esteem is portrayed really well here.
-Romance: This was a really nice romance. I felt that Misha and Ryen complimented eachother quite well and I found myself rooting for them to stop being stupid to eachother and just admit their feelings for eachother. They were like yin and Yang. I loved them together! They probably are one of my favorite book couples and I actually enjoyed how Penelope Douglas writes romance. So this was a major plus for me in this book! I felt their connection and I was drawn to them as a couple!
Addition of Music as a backdrop to the plot: I love how music was used to show their connection. I love the tiny additions of song lyrics of Misha’s. I just love how music can bring people together and I think that was done well here.
-The plot kept me guessing.
-Enemies to lovers trope done well. I’m TRASH for this trope obviously. While I hated how they acted towards eachother I also liked it in a way lol. I’m a complicated person I suppose
