I had avoided this book for years and years, mostly because of the hype and being a Greek classic nerd, I felt the book was already spoiled to hell and back. (And I'm not a big fan of the dead gay trope and knew that that was going to happen).

But it still made me cry. I think it has something to do with having a parent that did not accept me as gay and you could make the argument, with two lines to spare, Thetis becomes accepting of her son and her son's lover, allowing them eternity forever. This hits hard as my dad is dead and I never told him I was gay for fear of him not accepting me. Hell after I learned I was gay, I stopped reaching out.

It just hits in the feels. Really wish I had read this sooner.
