Tamara Ireland Stone’s Every Last Word was as heartbreaking as the title makes it seem, but was filled with healing and growing as well. This book is about acceptance and growth, more so than about trauma and grief, but the way these ideas weave together through self-expression is really beautiful. I found the characters to be compelling, and the approach to self-expression in this novel was done in such a unique way. I really loved the way the twist unfolded at the end and the way the plot developed around those details. Stone’s vision was clear from the start (once the twist is revealed) and the story flows over its hidden edges so perfectly, you don’t even realize it’s there. I read this story relatively quickly as the writing is easy to digest, and I think anyone who loves books about growing into one’s true self would enjoy this work of fiction. I know I did!
