The Devil's Teeth: A True Story of Obsession and Survival Among America's Great White Sharks by Susan Casey
3.0
This book does focus on sharks, but is really a biography of Susan Casey and her time spent on the Farallon Islands. The islands themselves are fascinating, as well as the sharks and characters that hang out here. The problem with this book is not in the substance but has much to do with the style it's written in. It continually feels like a magazine article ala "Outside" at it's worst and this is not a compliment. Each new male character is described as ungodly masculine and utterly, compellingly attractive while the females are young, pure and fresh sun goddesses who combine their incredible looks with an astronomical I.Q.. The story is a 4 star book - the writing a 2 - sooo 3 stars it is.
