“We love rainy days, don’t we, baby?”

“Loving you made me sick, and I don’t ever want to get well.”

“And if I’m damning myself, I’m going to enjoy the burn.”

Full transparency, both of the books I've read in this series are toxic af. Like if you're not into darker characters, this is not the book for you. However, the spice level was 💯.

So I have a few main gripes with this book. The first is that the writing isn't top tier. But let's be real, who's here for impeccable writing? Not me. That being said, I've definitely read books with worse writing. Another thing I don't love is that the main character, Cecilia, is kind of obnoxious as a main character. However, I kind of appreciate how she just feels her feelings without apology. That's something I cannot do so I admire reading characters like that. So while I find her melodramatic and a bit annoying at times, I also wish I could be more like her in some ways. The last thing I can't really share without giving spoilers but, suffice it to say, the plot in this book seems to completely negate the plot of the first book in a lot of ways and the time jump made it feel like it feel really long. Like I think I would have preferred this book be split into two.

So all that being said, despite the fact that this book isn't technically perfect, I loved reading it. If I were to rate this entirely off of vibes and enjoyment, it would be 4.5 or 5 stars. It is intensely readable and, to be quite honest, may have made me cry a couple of times. The emotions are so raw and vulnerable. There is one major moment that will absolutely wreck you if you care even a little bit about the characters. I couldn't help but root for the characters and I'm so intrigued to see what the final book in this series brings to the table.
