michaelmay 's review for:
Walden or, Life in the Woods
by Henry David Thoreau
I showed up for the nature writing and thoroughly enjoyed those parts of the book. The rest is Thoreau's opinion and commentary on society and I was less into that.
Even his opinions that I agree with (the importance of contentment, for example) he expresses is such judgmental terms and his logic and analogies don't always track, so that I was irritated even while appreciating his overall point.
