The Starving Saints
by Caitlin Starling
challenging
dark
I just know my big back would be screwed. Don’t read when hungry, or eating for that matter.
If you’re looking for medieval, dark fantasy horror that’s bacchanalian, queer, has cannibals, bees and feels like an absolute acid trip from hell then this is the book for you.
This is truly one of those books where you have to just strap in and enjoy (?) the ride, because lord knows you’re going to be like what the hell just happened.
This book was so fucked up, but in the best way (but only for those with an extremely strong stomach). The horror in this novel is incredibly visceral, and truly the imaginary smells I had coming to me reading this were truly stomach turning.
Also toxic gay women - my fave.
This is the second book with a medieval setting I have read recently and I do fear an obsession is forming. Gimme gimme gimme.
