little plot, a lot of introspection. really enjoyed this but the magic system is a bit frustrating. it's both intuitive and not. things are real because characters tell us so, not because there is an explained magical ground the reader ever gets to fully understand. it surely is whimsical.

i absolutely loved the dynamic between kavinsky and ronan, the themes of repressed queerness, sexuality and longing in general, becoming and unbecoming, power and defeat. the romance aspects (especially between gansey and blue) felt sweet and heartbreaking. also, all my love goes out to noah. never being able to fully be a part of the experience, floating somewhere between real and illusion, being loved but in a more abstract kind of way.
