One of the most devastating best short story collections I have ever read. I had to pace myself with these, because they were all so good, but also so affecting. Lorrie Moore all but redefines the genre with this book. I heavily dog-eared my borrowed copy (sorry) and actually dragged it out at the bar the other night saying, "listen, let me just read you this sentence." Sometimes I tried to read two stories in a go but that usually resulted in hugging the cat and asking doleful questions about the point of it all. Not for the faint of heart.
