Genuinely loved this book so much! It hooks you in immediately, wanting to figure out why empathy would be so bad in their world, who caused the death of so many people, and if Reece is in trouble because the Dead Man wants him by his side. The POVs threw me off for a bit because you can get everyone’s perspective, but once you realize that’s the format, it’s easy to follow and really does add to the story. The mystery part of this story was great! It was a little predictable, but also since this is technically a fictional world anything could have happened and it did.

I’m confused on what genre this is exactly, but Reece and Grayson’s relationship throughout the book is so sweet. The nickname ‘Care Bear’ sent butterflies to my stomach every single time. Reece was such a fun character to read because he was relatable and also is sarcasm was *chefs kiss*. Grayson is the grump of everyone’s dreams and I love how he constantly kept saying no one should trust him, yet he did everything in his power to help Reece. This also made the flirting interesting throughout since I genuinely could not tell who was good or bad in this story.
