Electric Idol by Katee Robert

dark lighthearted fast-paced

4.5

Electric Idol is the second book in Katee Roberts Dark Olympus series. In book one we followed Persephone and Hades and in this book we follow one of Persephone’s sister’s Psyche. This book picks up where the events from book one left, there is a new Zeus at the helm of Olympus and Hades has been reinstated as one of the Thirteen, though he still remains in the Underworld most of time, and there is still the title of Hera that needs to be filled. Demeter is still trying to place one of her daughters in the title of Hera, which of course enrages the resident matchmaker Aphrodite. After Psyche, Demeter’s daughter, get’s a little too much media attention Aphrodite has had enough and sends her son Eros after Psyche’s heart. But Eros can’t follow through on his set of instructions and instead hatches a plan to keep Psyche safe, by marrying her. Psyche see’s no other way to keep herself alive, so she agrees, but with some conditions. But is Psyche doesn’t realize is her heart might still be at risk.

I cannot emphasize how much I enjoyed this book! Katee is able to create fully developed, emotionally rich characters and a plot that had me flipping through pages while still keeping it fun and sexy and a pure delight! I was especially excited to see how she developed the myth of Eros and Psyche into a retelling. I love how she has chosen to create a world that feels so grandiose and exactly where these larger than life characters from Olympus belong while giving the reader and entirely new story to enjoy.
