This book was such a delightful read, I could not put it down.
The book was beautifully written and inspiring. The cast of character created by Klune was vivid, loveable and charming. The book gives a hopeful message that I think many can relate to these days. This type of story gives the type of escapism that I absolutely adore that only fantasy can provide.
This book has so many layers to it. It evokes X-Men being a metaphor for racism, it conjures Butler's Kindred as response to her roommate, it brings to mind Orwell's Animal Farm's discussion on communism and so much more. And it takes all of this and weaves it together artfully, and packages it up in something so charming, your heart could burst.
It's sad to see this book boiled down to something it is not.
