When I discovered that the chapters were 2-5 pages long, I was excited and thought I'd fly through this book - sadly, the chapter length was my favourite thing about it.

Neither the pace nor the characters drew me into the story. The writing was such that although it was not complicated, it was somehow still hard to follow and occasionally left me wondering if I needed to check the plot on Wikipedia to work out what I just read.

By the time it got to the end, there had been so many briefly introduced minor characters, murders and deaths that when "big reveals" came around, instead of being satisfying, they left me thinking, "Wait, who did what to who? Who is this?" which probably isn't ideal.

I liked the overall premise and messages about the later stages of life. Elderly folk are often overlooked, especially in our culture, so that aspect of the story was refreshing and occsionally thought-provoking.

However, on the whole, I'm not really sure how or why this book got so much hype...
