Dragon Flight

Even though Dragon Slippers didn't end on much of a cliffhanger, I loved it so much that I had to read the next book in the series. Dragon Flight may not be as good as the first book (hard to beat the awesome twist on dragon folklore), but it comes very close. I had a hard time deciding which one I enjoyed more.
There is a lot more action throughout the story with all the battles that take place. As a result, it is a little more violent than the previous book with all the dragons fighting each other and either getting injured or dying. There are also some humans who die as well when they are stabbed or get shot with arrows. However, it is nothing that is too gruesome or too inappropriate for young readers.
Throughout Dragon Slippers there were some relationships developing, which develop even more in this book. There is more hugging and kissing, but again I don't think it is that bad. It happens quickly, isn't focused on so much that it takes away from the story, and can be skipped over if reading aloud, if necessary.
The one thing that makes this story awesome is all the dragons! There are thousands in this book, and the ones that Creel know develop more as the story moves forward. They almost become too human in some parts of the story, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You get to learn more about Shardas and some of your other favorite dragons.
After reading parts of the book where dragons use alchemy I realized that there is no explanation as to how they are able to do so. I suppose it is hinted that maybe they learned it from Shardas's previous human companion, but I'm not sure.
Overall, it was a great story and I enjoyed the little twist with the King and his dragon. It would be a great read for anyone who loved the first book! I can't wait to read the next one. Just be sure to read Dragon Slippers before enjoying this book!
