Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
5.0
3rd read: Re-re-reading this in preparation for Mirrored Heavens, and I’m still so incredibly impressed by this novel. The mythology and the worldbuilding are so deep and richly crafted, and I *adore* these characters and their complexities and shades of grey. Roanhorse’s writing remains some of the best in the game, and this trilogy remains one of my top-three or -five favorites.
2nd read: Just as impressive on a re-listen. The voice acting remains tremendous, and the story is so so good. I can’t wait for book 2!
1st read: Stunning, epic, brilliant. Roanhorse has cemented herself alongside Jemisin as two of the best and most exciting and original fantasy authors writing right now.
