Don't Hex with Texas by Shanna Swendson

3.0

The whole premise for this book is so cliched- it's like Edward from Twilight and half a dozen other books all over again. It's such a stupid choice as well, it wasn't during everyday life that it happened but when Katie deliberately put her self in danger by acting as bait at a meeting with the bad guys, surely the best option would be to just not let her get into dangerous situations rather than completely abandon Owen and MSI and run off home to Texas. Also Owen saved her life and let the bad guys get away, that's classic being the good guys i.e. avoiding collateral, I really don't think his actions were a sign that he was loosing his mind, Merlin did after all also help Owen.

It just seems like such a stupid response to the situation, hearing Katie go on and on about how she'd made the best decision really got annoying. She also didn't seem to consider that abandoning Owen might also hurt him, she was okay running home to her family but he was stuck in the city with just Rod, his family doesn't live there and we've heard before that he doesn't really socialise with anyone else.

I also hated that even though she abandoned Owen and he came to help her out- showing he still cared she still wasn't particularly affectionate to him, her POV spends a lot of time talking about how cute he is but she doesn't actually show him that she cares in any meaningful way.
