I don't think it's ever been as obvious as in this book that Cora Reilly is not writing in English/her books are not originally written in English. Not to say that there is anything wrong with reading a translated and/or english-as-a-second-language book but GIRL GET AN EDITOR OR A RESEARCHER OR SOMETHING. It is needed for everything. For the grammar, the sentence structure, the facts, and the context. You've written about an entire universe set in the States but you haven't done even the simplest of Google search to figure out that "Sylvester day" isn't a thing here. Or that birth control isn't called an anti-baby pill (lol) in english. Or that you can't finish an accounting degree in 2 years at NYU (ok maybe you can if your husband is a capo...). Or that you don't take the cap off a pregnancy test to see if it's positive... Because that's where you just peed. All of these mistakes/errors really took me out of the story, and that's not even mentioning all the grammar and spelling mistakes, and the flowery, over dramatized languaged.

The only thing that kept me going in this book was that I like the characters, and I wanted to see what Luca would do in the end, but otherwise this was so mediocre.
