It took me so long to finish this book. Honestly, it was a short book and the writing was easy to fly through, but I just didn’t have the motivation to pick it up again. I would say about 90% of the book is pretty boring and then everything is kind of explained in the last 30 pages. When something is hinted to a character that gives them to an answer to a question, I feel that often it wasn’t logical to assume that’s what it meant and a bit of a stretch. I thought the ending was kind of boring and I was really sad that the romance went nowhere for no reason at all. I like happy endings and it felt like a “we’re fine now” ending. I don’t think anyone ended up with anything valuable at the end, either. I do think the writing from “House of Horrors” was good, and maybe that’s the authors natural writing, but I felt that the writer purposefully made the writing for modern day Maggie worse because she’s “not a writer”.
