The White Mare by Jules Watson

4.25

Jules Watson’s background in archeology was incredibly apparent in this book and in such a lovely the way. I loved the care given to the world building and the descriptions, it all made the story feel so much richer.

I connected with Rhiann almost immediately, though Eremon took a while to really grow on me. At times, I was frustrated at both of the main characters, but somehow, Jules Watson wrote the story in a way that kept my caring what was happening. In a way, it almost felt like the flaws of the characters made them feel more human, and they were not so void of internal self-awareness that they couldn’t recognize when they made mistakes. The secondary characters, particularly Caitlin and Linnet, were engaging to me as well.

I would definitely say this is an intense read, but it was definitely a page turner for me and I’m very intrigued about the next book!
