The Crown Conspiracy by Michael J. Sullivan

2.0

Simple enough storyline, soft magic system, very wordy and overexplained/told the reader exactly what was happening or what the feelings of a character were instead of showing them. (Very little show don't tell.)
I thought the characters were pretty meh honestly. The majority of them are stereotypes:
Prince acts like a spoilt brat, the princess is defenceless, the rogue is dark and brooding, mercenary has a herocomplex.
Only one of the characters has a noticeable character arc and it's only okay.

Some parts felt similar to The Lies of Locke Lamora but much more watered down and less interesting.

Overall it was a decent book, but I don't think I can make it through the rest of the series at this time due to the excessive over description.
