DID NOT FINISH
Sigh. I really loved the first two/three books of this series (the first two are the strongest), but... the thing is, this feels unfinished and rushed. The attraction between James and Rowan is only there because the author says so, and while I was immediately attached to Nick and Sam and Basil and Derek, I cannot connect to either Rowan or James. Lindsey isn’t a bad writer, but she’s pushing these out too quickly, in my opinion. This could have used a lot more development and work. I’ll give the next book a try, since it’ll feature a character I’m very curious about, and I may try this as an audiobook once it’s out, but I hope she’ll take more time and care with her next books.
(I realize it’s tempting to want to please your fans, but I for one would rather wait longer for a good book instead of getting a mediocre one sooner.
