This book tried hard but just didn’t quite get there. It made some great points on political campaigns/publicity and how candidates are presented and expected to act. The characters could have been more developed, there was a clear lack of communication and growth. And for the first half of the book every single chapter ended with a version of “this was the best summer but then something terrible happened and I’m not going to tell you until the end of the book.” Once or twice is ok, every chapter is annoying.
