An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

Did not finish book.

I'm just not invested in this story. I feel like the characters keep flip-flopping. One moment Rook is intimidating next he's innocent as a child then he's murderous then he's wanting Isobel's validation. Isobel will be afraid of him then talk to him like he's a friend. It all just felt too fast.

At first, the cover art and focus on ravens intrigued me. The enchantment business was great as well. Essentially, it's a mixture between deals with the devil and magic wishes with a genie. You must be perfectly clear with what you want. I liked the goat-siblings and the main character who is a painter as well. However, after Isobel finished the painting, the story quickly went in a direction I didn't care for.

I might continue this one day, but, for now, I'm stopping here. Still, I want to read Sorcery of Thorns from this same author.

I don't know if I'm right, but I'm guessing Rook loved a human girl before and she died of old age.
