Beneath The Scarlet Sky was a fantastic WWII story.

This story follows Pino an Italian teenager after the bombing of his home. He is sent away where he joins an Underground Railroad helping Jews escape over the alps.

There is so much devastation and tragedy in this story. Interwoven are heroic stories and joyful moments of the characters living in these terrible times.

Pino was such a strong character. Very passionate, daring, and resourceful. I loved the musical references embedded in this story.

This story was very well told and an eye opener from this courageous man. While this is a tragic story I felt the author really made me connect to the people and the relationships in this story.

the writing was beautiful and I often friend myself taking quote notes from this book.
