I will honestly admit that it's really weird how a boring book can be so fun to read. This is, by my own standards, a very boring book. I fell out at parts, couldn't always pay attention due to it's many listings of families and relations between people and how much of telling' this book does. I know that is kind of the point, that's the format is has been written in, it's just not my cup of tea.
However, that being said, this book has some amazing moments of pure excitement, of fantastic storywriting. The descriptions that sometimes pop up and blow me away with how they sound and what they make me think about, and God, I loved those moments. I also loved hearing the names of characters I already know and love, even though that didn't happen that often.
It took me a while to finish. I needed breaks sometimes, but I am so happy I did. I may be very hyped and happy with the ending (aka, the exact edition I read includes the stories 'The fall of Numenor' and 'Of the rings of power and the third age' at the very end and I had so much fun listening to them because I know these things, they were familiar and I thought that was fun), but I am still very happy I read this and that I have some more knowledge about the universe within which The Lord of the Rings take place.
