Anne of the Island
by L.M. Montgomery
What I read: Anne of the Island by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Why I picked it up: I’ve been wanting to re-read the Anne books for awhile so I’ve been getting them on audio.
How I read it: On audio while at my brothers packing and cookie – finished up in the car yesterday.
What it’s about: Anne is going to college. She and her friends find a place to rent so they can get out of the boarding house. Roy courts her, and even asks her to marry him. Gilbert gets very sick, but his love for Anne helps him recover. This is the book when they finally find each other, and she realizes she loves him with all her heart (he’s know he loves her since the day he called her carrots)!
What I liked: I love the coming of age quality of these books, and I’m looking forward to continuing to re-read.
What I disliked: I wasn’t especially a fan of this narrator – but I think she’s the one who does the rest, so I’ll have to let go of that (or read them on paper).
Genre: Young Adult, coming of age, chaste love story.
Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and yes – but only as a whole set.
