Mother Faker by Brittanée Nicole

Book club book 😐. I really tried to get through this one but trying to explain it out loud to Jordan made me realize how fully stupid and bad this book is and drove me to finally quit it after being pissed off at it since page 1. First of all, the nicknames are STUPID they are so stupid and cringey and horrible. I don't even want to type out what the worst ones were because it would make my fingers shrivel up and fall off. But the nickname for Delia being Medusa was gross. Medusa had every reason to hate men so leave her out of this. Delia was also a bad friend. Her only trait being hating men made her not nice and unwilling to give anyone a chance which was a bad thing considering their house is literally falling apart and the only reason they can't hire someone to fix it is because of Delia. How no one has gone off on her yet is beyond me. And her kids are little demons. Second of all, and I know I just touched on this with Delia, every character was one dimensional. They had a single character trait and that's literally all they were. Delia hates men, Shayla is Mrs. Benson, Liv is insecure, and Dylan is "spiritual". Shayla's character also made me so mad because how can you see your friend act like that and treat her child like that, her child who was like embarrassed and upset by his mother's behavior, and not recognize that she needs help. That child is not okay and there are adults around him that should realize the help he needs. Dylan was just annoying and at times seemed almost flirty with Beckett which was... weird. And third of all is Beckett. What a horrid character. I won't get started on the nicknames again, but they were just god-awful. And so was he! It made absolutely zero sense for him to become a completely different person once he and Liv got "married". If I were her I would feel so gaslighted and have whiplash from him being an absolute heinous dick to me for the past several years to now him allegedly having been into me the whole time and trying to help and being nice and blah blah blah. It literally made no sense. And what was up with the two main characters having such weird attitudes around self-pleasure? You're all adults here. Most of you have children so you've had full on sex before so idk what's weird here. The dialogue in this book was horrible, the kids were annoying to read, and the adults were even worse. I still don't even understand the point of the plot. I got like over halfway through this book and had no idea what the point of all this was. OH and fourth of all the basis for it all was dumb as fuck in the first place. Like for one, I don't think Beckett was in the wrong for turning down an organization when the event space was already booked. That's completely normal. For it to somehow be twisted into "he hates kids" was stupid. It was even more stupid that random kids would see him, recognize him as "the kid hater" and physically attack him. Like what? And even more stupid than that was his dad then telling him to fake date someone with kids. Again, what???? He can't just like, volunteer at a boy's and girl's club? Donate to make a wish? Be seen in a children's hospital or something? There are other options than that. It was so weird. This whole book was ass and I hated everyone in it.
