One with You
by Sylvia Day
"I'm that guy for you, Eva. Every milestone, angel. Every rite of passage . . . everything. And you're that girl for me."
This isn't a review as much as my thoughts typed out so when I forget how I felt about Gideon and Eva ending this can remind me.
I did love this series, it dragged a bit but mostly in the waiting time. Okay admittedly it could have ended sooner and there were twists that were unnecessary or we didn't need to know about. That being said, I enjoyed the double narrative for the first time in a while, I felt that although the time scale was slightly ridiculous, by the way the double narrative was written it felt more realistic in a way. As though through getting to see a day from each character's perspective and seeing parts of their lives without each other present it was more realistic than following one character through every mundane part of their lives (I know it's not often every part but it's usually either that or time jumping).
"You have a sexual fantasy in which I'm a virgin?"
I did love the ending, I felt it did them as a couple justice to be peaceful. That said I have issues...
“I feel for you man. Put a ring on it and bam, the legs slam shut.”
We didn't need Monica to then die due to a stalker we hadn't heard about.
Second, all fingers were pointing at Eva being pregnant - talking about kids at least 3 times, her being sick when she saw the picture of Gideon (I get the picture's bad in itself but still..), her commenting on how full she was while looking at her stomach in the mirror, stating she felt sick a few times and Lucky waking her up pawing at her stomach.
Third, we didn't really get to see Gideon actually form other relationships or overcome his sleep issue.
Those are just my issues with Gideon and Eva. Why couldn't the epilogue show how Victor's move to New York went? Or how Cary dealt with his baby, did he and Trey get back together? What happened to Anne Lucas? Did Corrine's book actually happen?
I get that not all of this would be resolved but there was just a little too much unexplained for my liking.
I felt as if there was enough obstacles and problems to over come and resolve at the start of the book, never mind keep throwing more into the mix. The Monica/Lauren plot was the biggest issue for me though, why kill her too and then leave what could've been potential with her history and lies to just fizzle out in an 'Oh okay, that happened' kind of way and only get the what, not anything from Monica's perspective of why or the real feelings behind it.
“Who do you think monsters marry, you stupid bitch? Pretty little breakable girls? Or other monsters? You got the fairy tale right. But Gideon’s the beauty. I’m the beast. You think Gideon's scary? Wait ’til you get a load of me.”
All that being said, I did love the book and regardless of my issues I felt the ending did it justice in the sense that Gideon and Eva's lives are never gonna be straightforward or boring and this is the closest to piece and calm they may ever get. They deserve their happiness and now that we know, and they've proved, that they can over come anything, how much further could the story go and what more is there to say?

Spoiler
First, why did Eva's mum need to die? There was already enough going on between Gideon's family finally coming to terms with his past and forming relationships, Monica/Lauren's past with the Tramell's coming to light, Corrine's book, the Lucas' being dicks, the wedding, getting Lucky, house moving, you get the picture...We didn't need Monica to then die due to a stalker we hadn't heard about.
