Personal, heartbreaking, and comfortably melancholic (if that makes sense). It was like stepping inside a relationship dynamic and seeing the complex layers pulled apart and examined. You understand the miscommunication Connell and Marianne go through and you sympathize with them, you can get the highs and lows that they deal with. I don't often get emotional whilst reading books, but this one just pulled a chord in my heart. There is something very relatable to Rooney's character, writing style, and the conflict they faced. Normal People is my top favorite book this summer.
Graphic: Suicidal thoughts, Panic attacks/disorders, Suicide, Bullying, and Toxic relationship
Moderate: Eating disorder, Cursing, and Alcohol
