Cue the tears.
Holy cow. This book ripped my heart out, stomped on it, and then put it back together. I had a way more emotional response to this book than the first one. I think it’s because I’ve gotten to know and love Johnny and Shannon so much. Johnny has a heart of gold. He’s a keeper (as the title claims) Shannon is pure hearted and just so desired to be a teenager and not fear for her life on the daily. I have loved seeing all the characters evolve and grow. I can’t wait to hear Joey’s story.
