This book was heartbreaking. The writing style felt a little juvenile at first, but then I realized it went with the first person, present-tense telling of her childhood. I felt like we went through the entirety of her relationship with her mom, from adoration to questioning to realization.
I saw in an interview that she said writing this book and going to therapy about all of this has helped her move through it, and still allow her to grieve her mom as well instead of just hating what she did to her, which I found to be such a striking comment. I hope Jenette McCurdy can be okay.
