Perfect. (Perfect Series Book 1) by D.D. Larsen
4.0
*This book was kindly gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.*
I recommend this book if you like:
-mystery / undercover operation
-love at first sight, (extra) steamy romance
-New Adult (End of High School about to start College/Uni)
Seryna is a very focused girl; get the grades, move to College, reach her goals. It’s all she has ever known. Her lifestyle has, up to now, been lacking in fun and the typical teenage antics (parties, hanging out with friends and boys). We get to follow Seryna at the end of her Senior Year and she is beginning to let loose a little and enjoy the time she has left in her hometown.
Seryna first sees a mysterious man at one of the parties and from then on she is intrigued, hoping to see him again. Seryna has an instant connection with him which is reciprocated and soon enough they find their way to each other.
Kieran and Seryna’s path only meet due to him investigating her family as an undercover FBI agent.
The secretive GAP alcohol operation was a good plotline and I had guessed who was behind it all (thanks to D.D. Larsen who left us clues along the way).
During this book a lot of bad things seem to happen which I found to be too much, too often and most times did not add to the storyline (e.g. breaking bones, hurting ankles).
Near the end of the book I did start to question their relationship after Seryna’s discovery. It really made me doubt Kieran for a while. I usually am more skeptical and couldn’t believe I had read to nearly the end and not questioned Kieran’s intentions. I was relieved to read the happy ever after ending (with a twist)!
The story develops really well at a quick pace (maybe because I read it within a few days). I grew to like the characters. The FBI undercover operation wraps up well with some drama and action. This book has a range of different scenes and I enjoyed the imagery it presented (especially the idyllic mountainous views from Kieran’s luxurious cabin).
