Fighting Fate by Charli Cotner

emotional slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

4.0

* Friends to Lovers
* Sports romance (football) she’s a dancer
* College setting
* Third act breakup
* Hidden relationship

I don’t know if it’s because I’m in a Mariana Zapata hangover but if you enjoy her books Fighting Fate will give you the same vibes, it’s a friends to lovers slow burn. It was a good book but some times the writing would jump around a bit. I really loved how their friendship stayed the main priority of their relationship and even through Miles’ cheekiness you could see how bonded they really were.

The secret relationship aspect and tension between the two is always a weakness of mine to read, the stolen moments and hidden touches make me kick my feet.

There are heavy mentions of cancer and death. Is a major part of second half of the book and influences the mmc

The next book is definitely going to be about Payson and Luke.

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Charli Cotner for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
