Succeeding Outside the Academy: Career Paths Beyond the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Stem by

5.0

The best resource I’ve read for people who are on the tenure track and hate it and for those who been trapped in contingent positions for years. Heartfelt first-person accounts of coming to terms with leaving academia and practical advice on ways to find a new and more satisfying career. This should be required reading for grad students, graduate faculty, and university administrators. It’s a powerful indictment of the way American universities are failing their graduate students and of the ways universities exploit nearly everyone.
