Because it's been so long since I read the previous book in this series, I was a bit lost with some of what was happening and a lot lost with some characters' names.

I recently read an interview with the author where she was asked what she does when she gets "writer's block." She answered that she doesn't really get writer's block. That because she has many scenes and characters going at once, if she comes to a problem point on one, she simply shifts over to another and keeps writing until it's either done or she needs to shift again. That's what the first half of this book felt like, like a continual shifting from one to another, with no traceable time or line running through all. Which is not to say it wasn't enjoyable. Reading about Jamie and Claire is like visiting family, and while I look forward to the next (and scheduled to be the last) book, I can't imagine an ending that won't break my heart.
