I Will Not Beg by Cherise Sinclair

4.0

Young, innocent Piper Delaney fell in love, and signed a "slave contract" with who she thought was her dream man. Years later, after being subjected to nothing but abuse, she gets the courage to leave, with encouragement from a sexy British stranger. Even more years later, Piper has built up a successful business, but she feels something is missing, so she visits the Dark Haven BDSM club, hoping to find the positive side of something she once loved. Ethan Worthington's encouraging words helped Piper find her freedom, and years later he helps her again, when she's overwhelmed and panicked at the club. Neither one are interested in a long-term relationship, but their attraction to each other is undeniable.

Cherise Sinclair does mean things to a lot of her characters before they're allowed to find true love. From abused wives and kidnapped sex slaves to lost spouses and military-induced PTSD, most of her heroes and heroines are scarred (on the inside, if not on the outside). Piper's trauma is greater than most, which is why it's so fulfilling when she finally gets the life she deserves, with a wonderful Dom who loves and supports her and a successful business of her own.
