Demon's Dream
by Elle Kayson
What can I say about this long ass book? LOL This was 100% a "TikTok made me read it"
Although I felt for Demon, he never truly won me over the way he did for a lot of people. He definitely melted me and I did love him being Dayana's bestie. Baby I wanted to jump through that book so many times and slap him FOR Dream (who also drove me a lil crazy, ngl) On the one hand, I know it was a LOT of change I'm wanting from someone (Damien) in 30 days (+ her pregnancy period) ... it also was a little unsatisfying for me to go through 747 pages of Demon talking crazy as hell and only really the epilogue of it all working out. I did like that he actually got in therapy though.
But listen... LISTEN!!! CARTIER ALARIC SALINAS!!
I was Team Smoke THE ENTIRE WAY. I loved their storyline DOWN do you hear me and honestly it's what kept me the most intrigued.
My biggest issue (and why it wasn't a 5 star read FOR ME — my ratings are based on MY enjoyment, not the writing. This was 5 star writing all the way through) was that damn third act break up AND a pregnancy trope... that turned into a damn fun house of kids lol While I absolutely loved the wrap up (and I think Kam's engagement would be a perfect opening for a part 2 because obviously this is just the cycle repeating itself)... that third act break up had me wanting to throw the book.
I literally found myself getting mad at how much was STILL happening 95% into the book that was going to require (I felt) more explanation (to have me satisfied).
There were parts in the middle of the book I felt like were dragging that could have packed all that action if you're going to give me a heart attack at the end lol
All in all, I took my time reading this one and it was definitely a wild ride I won't soon forget.
