Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wall-Paper: A Sourcebook and Critical Edition by Catherine J. Golden

I picked this up on vacation and wow. This is a short story everyone should read. The writing is simple, but intentional. Each word is chosen carefully and while it is definitely a short disturbing horror, it is also a poignant early feminist work.

It feels almost wrong in a way to review it considering it is based on not only the author’s personal experiences but the way many women were treated during that era. Still, it was well worth the read and I’m sure I’ll read it a few more times.
