Princess by Daniel May
5.0
5/5
I’m not going to put tropes down like my usual reviews as this is more erotica than a typical romance, but you do get some sort of HEA (although very twisted and fucked up, let me assure you).
For one, Daniel May can write, and write well. It’s engaging, it’s titillating, and it’s very very good. This book was dark, sexy, fragmented and a take on one of my favorite kinks that we don’t see often in MM, and in fact I’d gather he’s the only one I’ve seen write it so far - himbofication (Claiming the Cleanfreak) and Bimbification (Princess). Mind break is something I’ve seen more in Japanese hentai and manga so I’m not surprised that we don’t see it often in western erotica novels in this way, but damn.
Is this a romance? No, and he doesn’t claim it to be either. There is love… or maybe it’s a form of Stockholm syndrome and brainwashing, but either way, there were moments where I was invested enough to cry and feel for West. I didn’t want him to be in pain, even though his only sense of comfort is what broke him down in the first place. The interesting twists and reveal at the end was fascinating and I also loved the somewhat… endearing nature of their relationship. That Ellis took care of things West didn’t need to worry about anymore. That West was perfect.
If you can handle the content - dubcon, bimbofication, blackmail (more CWs in the first page of the book) - read it. Trust me. You won’t regret it.
