Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

My favorite part was definitely the setting and seeing Buenos Aires evolve throughout the novel, but overall the book fell a bit flat for me. I think I would’ve liked the narrative better if the pov’s were more blended so you gradually learn about each character’s past simultaneously. The ending was very abrupt to me in part because I felt like I was still getting to know Alma. The writing also felt a bit monotonous at times, but that could be an unfortunate translation issue.
