Looking for hidden meaning in these papers was the same as looking for hidden meaning in the natural world around us. If it existed, it could be activated only by the eye of the beholder.
that was fun! my concern with lovecraftian pieces is that the writing won't live up to the mystery but i thought this was a good mesh of a lot of interesting themes — even if only lightly explored — coming together for a solid atmospheric quick read
That’s how the madness of the world tries to colonize you: from the outside in, forcing you to live in its reality.
i have seen people's analysis on this book's connection with cancer and the theme of self-destruction, which also put my experience reading in a different perspective. i have to say it was the first time i felt somewhat disappointed that there's sequels? i want to read more but, at the same time, the thought of there being a sequel disappointed me somehow
