Representation: Heroine with severe anxiety
I really appreciated how Ruby decided to address Ariana's anxiety. It really helped to transform the earlier characterizations of Ariana's character in other books (and by other characters) as simply weepy.
In Barbarian's Beloved it becomes evident quite early on just how strong Ariana is. I also loved how supportive and understanding her mate is.
