Tell Me Everything: The Story of a Private Investigation by Erika Krouse

5 ⭐️ alert!!!! This is my favorite book of the year so far! This unique blend of true crime meets memoir packed a punch. I loved Krouse’s writing style and I couldn’t put this down. This was my Book of the Month pick and I’m so happy I choose this one.

Strangers often confess their secrets to Krouse because of her face and demeanor. This always intrigued her, but a lawyer she meets named Grayson believes it would be an asset and hires her as a Private Investigator. The pair work together for 5+ years on a Title IX case to take down University of Colorado Boulder’s pervasive rape culture within the well funded football team (the school isn’t named in the book but it is widely known.) We are along for the ride as Krouse discovers how rampant this problem is and how many women have been hurt as the confide in her. She wants justice more than anyone after the abuse she suffered in her childhood.

Reader beware that this entire book is triggering and you will be upset and angry throughout: at the rapists, at the University for allowing this, the rape culture for being perpetuated, and the criminal justice system as a whole. I was seething upon finding out that survivors have to pay for their own rape kits! The anger I also felt towards Krouse’s mother for her behavior and choices was palpable. I think this book is an important and emotionally resonant read and it will be hard to top as my favorite read in 2022.
