Plot or Character Driven:
Character
Strong character development:
No
Loveable characters:
No
Diverse cast of characters:
No
Flaws of characters a main focus:
Yes
While the three main characters weren’t flat or poorly written, they all felt rather similar to me. I also wasn’t able to connect to them as much as I would have liked.
The slow pacing wasn’t for me either, while in other books I usually enjoy it, it didn’t fit the story here.
Besides that, I still enjoyed the book and the way the story unfolds. I would have loved to see more ofSabines corruption from her own pov though.
I liked the ending.
PS: Why is every story about vampires inherently sexual? Aren’t there ace vampires? Is sex all that passes time passably after a few centuries? Can’t we talk about war, the passing of time, dead celebrities or political intrigues? Possibly nature as it was 500 years ago?
I haven’t read much vampire stories, but somehow they all have this in common.
PPS: I enjoyed the metaphor of roses in a garden, and the rhyme really resonated with me.
