Dune by Frank Herbert

3.0

I wish I could give it a solid three and a half. I wouldn't have picked this book up if it wasn't for the two films (the first decent, the second excellent.) I really appreciate it for the nuances of characters' mental processes that a film simply can't replicate. On the other hand, I think the films are, overall, much stronger, while still being an extremely loving retelling. I do like getting to read after watching and noting the differences. My guess is that I'll wait for following films, and consume the book they cover, until the films are done, at which point I'll be satisfied with calling my Dune-reading done as well.
