Down the Drain by Julia Fox

dark mysterious reflective fast-paced

5.0

This story is absolutely wild and the fact that Julia is still alive to tell the tell is utterly unbelievable. Aside from the rampant drug use, unapologetic theft, work as a dominatrix and sugar baby, the vast majority of this happens to her super young. Her pretty privilege and luck are clearly on her side through the majority of situations, but her taste in powerful, rich and controlling men also brings her it's own problems.

My biggest issue with this book, which I listened to and is narrated by Julia, is how she glamorises it all and quickly passes over the negatives. She shows extreme rage, poor judgement and is generally very immature. I'd be concerned about young adults reading this and thinking its a fun and desirable way to live, as she makes it sound.

But still it's an unbelievable and absorbing ride that I found very addictive. Still have no idea who she is or why she's famous though 🤷🏻‍♀️
